Update from: 09/19/05 Our summer here has come to a close, well, according to the calendar anyway, it's still toasty warm out right now. Not that often you hear the A/C running through the end of September... Enough about the weather, let's talk about the kids!
Elizabeth is being a great, big-sister to Mark and Samantha. Not only is she being a role-model in getting herself potty-trained, moving into her “Big Girl Bed” and being a “go-for”, she loves to play with Mark and Samantha and share toys with them, bring them Cheerios to munch on and just be her wonderful self. Now, with all those things comes responsibility and that can be a bother when you are two, so while wonderful, we have our moments. My favorite term for her now is “free-range toddler” as she is no longer confined to her bed at night, many mornings I find little hands pawing at me trying to get into bed. Dad: “Elizabeth, its sleepy time.” Elizabeth: “No, it’s awake time!” Clock: 4:45am… you decide.
In this corner, weighing in at 25 lbs., with 4 teeth, pudgy hands that love to smash on things and a big grin, we have… Mark! And in this corner, weighing in at just over 17 lbs, with 1 big tooth (2 more coming soon), super power grip and enough drool to fill a firetruck, we have… Samantha!
While they don’t really beat up on each other, it’s always interesting to see what they are doing differently and similarly. Samantha is the active mover and talker, Mark is the stationary grabber and smasher. They both have figured out how to get Cheerios into their mouth and how to bang on their high-chairs when they run out, very entertaining to see them communicate with us!
Mark & Samantha are both wearing “Hats” to help with their heads. They may look like hockey helmets or BMX helmets or whatever, but it’s really just a cosmetic thing. They both should be done with them in the next couple months as it’s helped a lot already. We tried putting some Dora the Explorer stickers on them, but Elizabeth wouldn’t have anything to do with that, so they’re back to plain white. Simple is better sometimes…
Teresa & I took a long weekend vacation to Banff, just 3 days, but more energizing than I could have imagined. It’s been 7 or so years since we were there last and really love the area. Now we just look around and say: “We could do this with the kids…” Then we’d go sit on a bench and do nothing for 2 hours, maybe kids next time. Didn’t see any bears, but did catch some other wildlife and the weather was perfect. Vacations are good stuff.
Thanks to everybody who keeps coming out on the ole’ Internet to check out pics of everyone, time being short and life being busy keeps this sadly out of date, but I hear rumor that this too will change…
